Video Tutorial – Salsa: Lesson 1/12 Warm up Program – Salsa is a very energetic Latin dance. Lots of fun, complete with spins, sharp movement, and crisp turns.
Salsa is originally Cuban with deep Afro-Caribbean beats, and additional musical influences from Son, Guaguancó, Rumba. This dance is also similar to Mambo in that both have a pattern of six steps danced over eight counts of music.
Salsa is normally a partner dance, although there are recognized solo forms, line dancing (suelta), and Rueda de Casino where groups of couples exchange partners in a circle.
The name “salsa” is the Spanish word for sauce, connoting, in American Spanish, a spicy flavor. Salsa also suggests a “mixture” of ingredients.
It’s a great dance to learn if you want to break into the latin club scene all over the world!

This is our beginner Hip Hop Class working it out once again to one of the never-ending line of hot tracks from Pitbull. The choreography is a mixture of the Hip Hop, African, and Salsa styles that drive the Miami dance scene. We had a great time making and learning this dance. It was super popular with our students and YOU all have made it one of our MOST popular videos ever!
