Salsa! its sexy and you’ll be able to apply it to more types of music than Swing. But I love both.

I’ve done both, and both are really fun! I think swing lessons made me laugh more, and I was looser at them and more playful. Salsa seemed a bit harder, so I guess in the beginning I concentrated more than I had fun.

As for which is funner/more useful in the long run I’d say salsa. It’s a more sensual, sexy dance and you will probably find more occasions to dance it at parties and stuff. Not as many songs have a swing-ish beat to them.

Why not both, eventually. I would start with the swing and follow with salsa. Depending on where you go to parties, dances, etc., you could use and enjoy both.

I am actually also debating this with my really good guy friend. And i decided to take both actually, because they would give me a discount, but also because it is too hard to chose, maybe swing for 8 weeks then salsa for 8?

Swing is alot easier to learn and to look decent when dancing socially. Salsa takes more time to learn and to really be able to move your body to the music. There are also alot more salsa clubs out there than swing clubs.

I’d say learn a little bit of swing to get used to just dancing in general. Then move on to Salsa.
